27 Okt Introduction of E10
E10 petrol has recently been rolled out across the UK and is already either mandatory or optional in many other countries. E10 contains up to 10% renewable ethanol. To date, petrol in the UK has contained up to 5% renewable ethanol (known as E5). The new E10 unleaded petrol has a different dielectric constant to E5. Any non-autocompensating capacitance type liquid level sensors that were calibrated for use in E5 that are now being used with E10 unleaded petrol should be recalibrated to retain accuracy. Sensors with original calibration may read full on your meter when the tank is only 70% – 80% full of fuel.
Rochester Sensors Fuel level sensors with auto-compensation such as the T/LL35x and T/LL36x series aren’t affected. Most others, such as the T/LL13x, T/LL14x and T/LL15x series feature either a manual calibration button or calibration wire so can be recalibrated by a technician.
Please contact Sales if you would like clarification or believe you have a sensor that cannot be re-calibrated.
