Introducing the T/LL405 Extended Temperature Range Liquid Level Sensor

Rochester Sensors UK today announced the release of its new T/LL405 Extended Temperature Range Liquid Level Sensor. This advanced capacitance sensor continuously monitors liquid levels, providing a configurable voltage output in the range of 0.5 – 4.5 VDC. Designed for accuracy and repeatability, the T/LL405 delivers reliable liquid level data in even the most demanding environments. Its compact and robust construction makes it ideal for extended temperature range applications, such as monitoring engine oil or coolant in relatively shallow sumps or tanks.

The T/LL405 is compatible with a wide variety of liquids, including engine, transmission, hydraulic and fuel oils or coolant, provided they are compatible with dimensions ranging from a minimum of 80mm to a maximum of 400mm, and a variety of thread options including: ½” BSPT, ½” BSPP, 3/4 “ UNF, ½ – 14 NPTF, M16, M18 and M20.

Engineered for durability, the sensor features a 316 stainless steel header, a brass connector with nickel and gold plating, and a 316 stainless steel tube. The inner rod is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a PTFE inner rod sheath and end plug. Both Wetside and Dryside O-rings are FVMQ.

The T/LL405 operates on a supply voltage of 4.9 to 5.1 VC with supply current of 10mA and includes 16V over voltage and reverse polarity protection. The alarm output is a switch to ground with a maximum of 100mA, and a default low-level alarm at 12% of active length, positioned at a minimum of 23mm from the end of the probe and 35mm from datum.

The sensor boasts an IP68 rating on the liquid side and IP67 on the connector side, ensuring reliable performance in challenging conditions. It operates within a temperature range of -40⁰C to 125⁰C. With a maximum tank pressure of 1 bar, the T/LL405 is built to withstand demanding applications.

Janice Marriott, Business Development Manager stressed that quality drove development of this sensor.  She was pleased to announce that the T/LL405 meets stringent quality standards, including EMC type approval in accordance with EN 60945:2002, vibration resistance to 15.3 grms BS EN 60068-2-4:1995, and shock resistance to 500ms-², 6 ms, BS EN 60068-2-27:1993. Weighing just 0.16kg (for the 300mm version), the T/LL405 is a lightweight and efficient solution for liquid level monitoring.
