Model 3100 Series Water in Fuel Sensors: Unparalleled Precision and Reliability

Rochester Sensors, a leader in fuel system innovation, today announced the launch of its ground breaking 3100 series Water in Fuel (WIF) sensor. The 3100 series Water in Fuel (WIF) sensor is designed for precision water detection in fuel filter housing assemblies, utilizing advanced capacitance measurement technology. This robust sensor is specifically designed for OEMs requiring high reliability, low cost and failure-prone moving parts.

Constructed from fuel-tolerant 25% GF Acetal Copolymer (POM-C0, the sensor is fully sealed and leak-proof, preventing corrosion and contamination. The sensing location is optimally positioned as per customer requirements from the mating surface, maximizing detection sensitivity. An external Viton O-ring ensures a secure seal, and the integrated connector allows for easy re-use during filter changes.

While it excels in separated fluids, ,it is not intended for use in emulsified water diesel mixtures. The 3100 series operates on a supply voltage of 8 – 36VDC, the output is switch to ground in water (dielectric 29.3 – 80.3) and has a power consumption of <15mA. It offers a wide temperature range -20ºC to 125ºCand withstands application pressures up to 10 PSI. Its robust construction and advanced immunity features ensures reliable operation even under challenging conditions.

The 3100 series features a ½” – 20 UNF (SAE 5) thread as standard, other thread connections are available upon request. The integrated Ampseal 16 3-way connector with gold-plated terminal boasts an IP67 ingress rating when mated. It demonstrates robust EMC protection to EN ISO 13766-2006. This device can endure vibration levels of 15.3 Grms across 3 orthogonal planes for 3 hours per plane, as per BS EN 60068-2-64: 1993, and with stands drops from1 meter onto concrete.

Accessories include C/K18 Ampseal 16 3-way connector with terminal and wire seals.

“The 3100 Series WIF sensor represent a significant leap forward in diesel fuel management,” said Steve Lowe, Product Manager at Rochester Sensors. “The combination of superior switching accuracy and a simple robust design, provides unparalleled protection and convenience for our customer.”
